Last time LeBron James left Cleveland for Miami it worked out pretty well for him. Perhaps another return to South Beach could yield even more championship success for one of the game’s all-time greats.

Think of this as adding LeBron back to the Heat team he left, but with a couple of key additions. The Heat have added some big-time talent since his departure in the form of point guard Goran Dragic and center Hassan Whiteside. Obviously the latter could leave in free agency, but I think he’d re-sign in a heartbeat if LeBron was going to return.

A lot of this depends on Chris Bosh’s long-term prognosis. If he can return and play at his previous level, then the Heat would become instant NBA title contenders once again. If he’s unable to return, or has to do so in a diminished capacity, the roster may not be strong enough for James to consider.

A starting five of Dragic, Dwyane Wade, LeBron, Bosh and Whiteside would be quite formidable. They would instantly become the favorites to win the Eastern Conference and if their health could hold up, could certainly challenge a team like the Warriors for the title.

LeBron loved his time at South Beach and if things break right, it might be the perfect time for him to make another grand return.
