Jalen Ramsey is the best safety prospect in this class.

The Jacksonville Jaguars need help at cornerback and safety.

How’s that for a pick that makes sense?

There is a conceivable scenario when Ramsey would be off the board by this point (perhaps as high as San Diego with the number three overall pick), but if he remains available when the Jaguars come on the lock, it would be a shock if Jacksonville passed on him. Beyond that obvious fit between talent and need, Ramsey happened to play his college football in Florida as well, and the Jaguars have never been shy about pursuing a bit of attention in their local area.

Ramsey has great size (6-foot-1) for a cornerback with enough bulk to play safety, and he can really run and utilize his high-end ball skills. Some have attempted to knock for the former Florida State standout for not “having a position”, but in today’s NFL, scheme versatility is extremely useful and Ramsey legitimately profiles as a star-level player at either spot. There’s nothing wrong with that. He’s a tremendous prospect and this partnership seems meant to be in every way.
. DB. Florida State
