NFL Rumors: 5 free agent destinations for Robert Griffin III
By Josh Hill
Why It Makes Sense: It’s Cleveland. They need a quarterback and RGIII is the perfect Frankenstein monster that Cleveland is typically attracted to. He’s flashy but unproven, was really good at one point in time but has been terrible and has a rock star name that would bring attention to the team. Take away the drug stuff and RGIII is Johnny Manziel in terms of hype in Cleveland. That doesn’t mean it’s going to work but if it pan out then the Browns will finally have the young mobile quarterback that they’ve always wanted.
Why It Might Not Happen: It’s Cleveland — which means it won’t work because nothing ever does. Remember when Kelly Holcomb brought the team to the postseason? Not only was that the only time the Browns have been remotely good since returning in 1999 but it’s proof that this team is destined to be unexciting even when they’re good.
While RGIII has the potential to be a stud, the Browns can’t keep relying on potential when they need development. There’s a chance that he’ll bounce back and it would be so Cleveland if they had a chance to sign him but they passed.
