NFL Rumors: 5 free agent destinations for Robert Griffin III
By Josh Hill
Why It Makes Sense: Nick Foles is not the answer and neither is Case Keenum. Los Angeles has sunk a ton of money into Foles but they’re in a position to take a chance on RGIII — because why not? It would also be a fantastic troll by Jeff Fisher and the front office, as the Rams fleeced Washington so the latter could draft RGIII. How perfect would it be if the Rams ended up with RGIII too?
St. Louis is in the perfect position to take a chance on Griffin. They aren’t going to get an instant stud in the draft at quarterback and might be at the tail end of Fisher’s time with the team. Why not push the chips in and take a chance on a guy that will either kill the last remnants of the St. Louis era or ring in the L.A. era with flash and flare?
Why It Might Not Happen: There aren’t a whole lot of reasons why this shouldn’t happen, but the investment in Nick Foles or the sheepishness when it comes to RGIII’s reliability might factor in. Let’s not forget the idea that RGIII might not be interested in wanting more money than teams are willing to offer. He hasn’t really been the type of guy willing to double down or assimilate himself to a situation, and he could scoff at the idea of not only being a backup but also not getting paid like the superstar he thinks he is.
