West. Pacific. Los Angeles Clippers. 3. player. 77.

The Los Angeles Clippers are a championship caliber team already in the Western Conference. However, they play in a top-heavy West that features two historically great teams in the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Clippers have a great core four in point guard Chris Paul, shooting guard J.J. Redick, power forward Blake Griffin and center DeAndre Jordan. However, starting small forward has been a troublesome position for Los Angeles ever since head coach/general manager Doc Rivers came to town a few years ago.

Though the Clippers are going with the inconsistent Jeff Green at the three for the rest of this season, would it make since for the Clippers to pursue Chandler Parsons of the Dallas Mavericks in free agency this summer?

Parsons plays well with others, shoots the basketball at a high clip from all over the court and already tried to recruit Jordan to the Mavericks last summer. If Parsons really wants to play with Jordan, his best shot might be to join him in Hollywood playing for Rivers’ Clippers.

Signing Parsons would certainly have some negative ramifications on the Clippers’ salary cap, but if owner Steve Ballmer wants an NBA Championship in 2017, getting Parsons to join the club might be the piece that the Clippers need to get over the top in the West.

Parsons would thrive playing with the Clippers, and Los Angeles could win potentially 60 games in 2016-17 with him on their team should they keep most of the rest of their foundation intact. Parsons on the Clippers gives them a legitimate shot at playing in a Western Conference Finals and on the doorstep of playing for it all in the NBA Finals. Price is the only issue here.
