Colin Kaepernick went from starting for the 2012 NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl to not wanting to play for the Niners any more know that Chip Kelly is his new head coach. Some question Kaepernick’s intelligence to want to walk away from a system he’d be perfect in, but if he doesn’t want to play for the 49ers any more, maybe the Broncos have some interest?

Denver’s offense is ultra-conservative, but one could argue that Kaepernick’s mobility and arm talent could thrive in playing in Coach Kubiak’s system. Kaepernick has led a defense-first football team to two NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl while starting at quarterback for the 49ers.

Kubiak could limit the playbook for Kaepernick and maybe install some pistol formations like Kaepernick thrived in running in college for the Nevada Wolfpack in the Mountain West Conference.

He wouldn’t have to leave the West Coast to play for the Broncos and could conceivably quarterback a playoff caliber team in Denver should he become the new starter under center for the team in 2016.

What helps Kaepernick more than Griffin or Hoyer is that even though he’s in his late 20s, there is some belief that Kaepernick still has some untapped potential as an NFL passer. He can run the like wide receiver and few in the league throw the football with as much velocity as Kaepernick.

He’s not a particularly accurate passer, but has the acumen to run an up-tempo offense than can keep the chains moving with a great ground game. If he and Kubiak can get on the same page, this isn’t a bad decision to pry Kaepernick away from the 49ers in the NFC to replace Manning and Osweiler in Denver.
