With the Broncos winning Super Bowl 50, they have absolutely no chance at drafting either Carson Wentz out of North Dakota State or Jared Goff out of California in the 2016 NFL Draft. Both top-tier passers will be off the board before the No. 10 overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.

However if the Broncos think that they can draft their next franchise quarterback in the back-end of the first round this year, they might seriously consider taking former Memphis Tigers star quarterback Paxton Lynch at the end of the first round this spring.

Lynch is a big-bodied, mobile quarterback with a strong arm. He has a higher ceiling than Osweiler and though he played at a non-Power 5 school in Memphis, Lynch could grow in Kubiak’s offensive game plan should Denver decide to bring him into the fold in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Denver may have to trade up a few spots to draft Lynch, but if he’s available at or around the No. 25 overall pick, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Broncos go after him with their first round selection.

Going with Lynch to replace Manning and Osweiler in 2016 essentially means that the Broncos are conceding the AFC West crown to either Kansas City or Oakland, but it could mean that the Broncos won’t have to address the quarterback position for the next decade if Lynch works out in Denver.

It’s a huge gamble for the Broncos, but so is starting Siemian under center in Week 1 of the 2016 NFL season. Lynch has high upside and could become a star in this league if put in a winning culture like Denver.
