PF. Washington. Marquese Chriss. 23. player. 18.
This is the Celtics third selection of the first round, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them select an international player here to draft-and-stash or move the pick in favor of other assets. If they keep the selection, Washington’s Marquese Chriss is a high upside option who can develop either on the Celtics roster or with the Maine Red Claws, their D-League affiliate.

Chriss is a 6-9 power forward with a 7-0 wingspan who has been a versatile big man in his first season under Lorenzo Romar. Although he’s only attempted 50 three-pointers, Chriss has shown that he can step out and shoot it from the perimeter where he has solid shooting mechanics. With good length and great athleticism, Chriss is the definition of a high upside offensive prospect. He’s a solid offensive rebounder as well, grabbing 9.9 percent of his team’s misses this season. Defensively, Chriss has been a good rim protector in college, averaging 2.6 blocks per 40 minutes. However, because of his height, Chriss likely won’t be a dominant defensive presence at the next level. Still, he can be a very good help defender and his offensive upside as a stretch four makes him a potential steal at this spot for Boston.
