WINNER: Seattle Seahawks

Seattle was supposed to get picked over during free agency, but that has not been the case. General manager John Schneider has been able to keep some of his core players including cornerback Jeremy Lane – one of the most underrated players in the game – and wide receiver Jermaine Kearse.

The Seahawks have lost some players in outside linebacker Bruce Irvin and guard J.R. Sweezy, but both of them are replaceable in the upcoming draft. Seattle still has some work to do including trying to bring back left tackle Russell Okung, but Schneider should be applauded for his efforts so far.

LOSER: San Diego Chargers

San Diego made a nice signing with Travis Benjamin, but this is a team with ample holes and cap space, yet sitting idly by. General manager Tom Telesco should have been going hard at some of the edge rushers and 3-4 defensive ends like Jaye Howard, but instead has given that side of the ball no attention.

The Chargers have a prolific but aging quarterback in Philip Rivers. The years are ticking away and leaving that rancid defense together is not doing anybody favors. The Chargers needed to be aggressive on the defensive side of the ball, and they completely misfired.
