DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-March 14
High Salary C
Hassan Whiteside-Miami Heat (8,200): Whiteside is coming off his worst game in a while as he posted just 13 points and 11 rebounds against the Raptors with 35.75 fantasy points. He had run off four straight games of over 40 fantasy points before that despite still coming off the bench for the Heat. Whiteside is in a good matchup tonight against Denver, and he has gotten 29-33 minutes almost every game since the All Star break despite coming off the bench. He has a double-double with multiple blocks in nine of his last ten games, and I expect more of the same tonight against the Nuggets. ∗∗∗
Dwight Howard-Houston Rockets (7,900): The Grizzlies simply do not have the size to contend with Howard down low tonight. With Marc Gasol lost for the season and Zach Randolph missing the last four games with a knee injury, they’ve had to go to Jarrell Martin, JaMychal Green, and Ryan Hollins for big minutes up front. Howard should dominate any and all of them tonight as he goes for his fifth straight double-double. Howard has posted at least 30 fantasy points in nine of his last ten games, so he isn’t very high-risk. He has five games in his last ten with at least 40 fantasy points, and I think he’ll be well over that number tonight especially if the Rockets take advantage of his mismatch down low. ∗∗∗∗
Alex Len-Phoenix Suns (7,000): Len has been huge for the Suns lately and has become the focus of their offense since joining the lineup next to Tyson Chandler. He has at least 45 fantasy points in three of his last five games after going for 26 points and 13 boards against the Warriors on Saturday. Tonight, he’ll be in a good matchup against the two young big-men from Minnesota as Towns and Dieng come to Phoenix. Because he’s playing such a pivotal role in the Suns’ offense, look for him to keep putting up solid numbers with lots of potential for 20-10 games. ∗∗∗
Nikola Jokic-Denver Nuggets (6,300): Jokic has been the ultimate boom-or-bust play lately with over 34 fantasy points in four straight before crashing to just 9.75 fantasy points in 17 minutes on Saturday. He will have to deal with Hassan Whiteside tonight, but his volatility seems to have very little to do with matchup. You could get a great deal if you roll with Jokic tonight, or you could get burned like his owners did on Saturday.∗
