Upset Watch: No. 7 Oregon State and No. 4 Duke

If there is a lock for an upset in the West Region, it might be the No. 7 Oregon State Beavers falling to the No. 10 VCU Rams right off the bat. The Beavers were given a more than favorable seed by the committee that really didn’t match the resume that they had.

They aren’t good on offense and they’re going up against a VCU team that is tremendous on defense. The Beavers have had some bad losses this season and have shown plenty of inconsistency trying to score the basketball. VCU is battle tested and has been in this spot before. The Beavers are going to have a fight on their hands.

The No. 4 Duke Blue Devils aren’t generally prone to upsets as they come into the tournament looking to defend their National Championship. The casual 13-4 upset could be in play here, as the Blue Devils take on the No. 13 UNC-Wilmington Seahawks.

UNC-Wilmington has won 17 of their last 19 games and they’ve been one of the best teams in the country over that stretch. Duke has worn down a bit this season and they better hope that they have the legs to keep up or it’s going to be an early exit for the champs.
