According to T.J. Ward, Derek Wolfe once told Tom Brady he was going to eat his children while trash-talking on the field.

Denver Broncos safety T.J. Ward is a ruthless defender known for his hard-hitting style of play and willingness to tangle with some of the NFL‘s most dangerous wide receivers and tight ends in the open field. But when it comes to playing mental games and getting inside the heads of opposing players with trash talk, he doesn’t hold a candle compared to teammate Derek Wolfe.

Ward joined an ESPN media segment Monday and was asked who were some of the most feared players on his own roster. Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller obviously was one of the first names to come up, but then Ward quickly turned the attention to sackmaster defensive end Derek Wolfe.

“His presence, he’s a dog on the field and he really doesn’t take any mess from any one. Having him there up front, he set the tone for us,” Ward explained. “I heard him hit somebody with the Mike Tyson (once)… He told someone he was gonna eat their kids. . . . That was an opposing player. That was, um, Tom Brady. I think he told Tom Brady that.”

Yowza.

Given the shellacking Brady took in the AFC Championship Game from Wolfe and the rest of the Broncos’ vaunted pass rush, it’s probably a good idea to keep the Patriots quarterback’s children as far away from Denver as possible.
