9. Giants sign NT Damon “Big Snacks” Harrison

Contract: 5 years and $46.25 million, $24 million guaranteed

Harrison would be higher up on this list, but the contract the Giants gave him was a bit on the high side. Harrison is an elite (arguably the best) run stuffing nose tackle. As an undrafted free agent, Harrison has performed better than anyone could have ever expected. He has been instrumental in the Jets’ top rushing defenses over the past three seasons. That being said, Harrison is a two down player that offers nothing when rushing the passer. For that reason, his contract is a little rich.

Harrison should fit in very well with the Giants. For one, it was a great move for Harrison because he doesn’t need to change cities and he still gets the money he was looking for. From a playing perspective, Harrison should help the Giants immensely in run defense.

Last year, the Giants ranked 24th in yards/rush allowed and the addition of Harrison should help improve this number. His large presence in the middle will help mask the weaknesses at LB for the Giants and his ability to draw double teams will help the other defensive lineman find opportunities. Overall: good fit, wrong price.
