7. Texans sign RB Lamar Miller

Contract: 4 years and $26 million, $14 million guaranteed

Lamar Miller was frustrated with his usage in Miami and took the opportunity in free agency to sign with a team that values the running game. Replacing Arian Foster, Miller will be the lead back in an offense with a reputation for running the ball well. Miller had less than 1,000 yards last year, but the main reason for this was that he was underutilized.

Miller had 872 yards with eight touchdowns on 4.5 yards/carry and was a big factor in the receiving game. His career yards/carry is 4.6, which is a great number as a no. 1 back, and at only 24 years old Miller still has plenty left in the tank.

This contract is on the high side for a running back, but Miller is one of the few backs worth spending the money on. Miller does everything a running back is expected to do and he does it at a high level. His elite speed can let him get around the edge, but he is still durable enough to run between the tackles. He can pass block and he has soft hands, which make him a true three-down back. Miller is very similar to Foster in skillset, but he is younger and more durable, which gives him a greater upside for the future.
