Vanderbilt. Wade Baldwin. 13. player. 118.
The first thing that jumps out at you about Baldwin is the length of his arms. While he is just 6-3, Baldwin’s 6-10 wingspan makes him look scary. Opposing point guards look terrified when they see him across the floor; they know they are in for a long night offensively. Baldwin has the upside and physical tools that have put him in the conversation for best perimeter defender in the draft.

Offensively, his fit and situation will be key to his success. If he hits his ceiling, he will be a player similar to George Hill and Avery Bradley, an undersized shooting guard that can play point guard but isn’t expected to really run an offense. Baldwin is a solid spot up shooter who can create at a decent level. Utah would be a great fit for Baldwin because he will be surrounded by other players that love to have the ball in their hands and create offense. Gordon Hayward, Alec Burks, and Rodney Hood all take turns running their offense, giving the Jazz little use for a dynamic, ball hogging point guard. Baldwin would be able to slot in and do what he does well: lock up the opposing team’s best perimeter player and hit open shots on the other end.

The Jazz have several other point guards they need to make decisions on. Raul Neto and Trey Burke don’t look like they will last much longer in the NBA despite playing big minutes this season. Newly acquired Shelvin Mack has impressed in his short stint thus far and Dante Exum is their high draft pick from 2014, but neither seem to be long term, complete fits. Baldwin could give the Jazz a more well rounded, clean fit with their current roster.
. PG
