C. Maryland. Diamond Stone. 15. player. 18.
Diamond Stone’s draft stock is drastically different depending on who you talk to. At the beginning of the season, he was seen as a potential top ten pick. Now, he could go anywhere from the middle of the lottery all the way to the twenties. He may even benefit from going back to school for another year, getting more consistent, and dominating the college game in order to improve his position in the draft.

There is a lot to like about Stone’s game, not least his potential. He can do a little bit of everything on offense as a big; ball screen and dive, score on the low block, and use his long arms and big body to crash the offensive glass. However, his awareness on defense and effort on the defensive glass might scare you away is. For someone with his physical profile, he should dominate the boards and grab double digit rebounds every game. He has the potential to do that, we just need to see it on a consistent basis.

The Celtics are known for taking risks late in the draft, and if Danny Ainge thinks Stone has a high ceiling, he might take him here. Stone has the upside of a top ten pick, and Ainge is willing to roll the dice on players like this.
