2016 NHL Mock Draft: Coyotes draft Auston Matthews
The Ottawa Senators have a variety of needs but the biggest one is that they lack high-level forwards. Pierre-Luc Dubois could easily change that. Ottawa benefits from a run at defensemen as Dubois is ranked sixth on HockeyProspect.com’s top 30 skaters. Whether Dubois sticks at center or not, the Senators will be getting an excellent well-rounded player.
Dubois has the potential to be a great goal scorer in the NHL. He has a natural nose for the net and his finishing ability is excellent. Dubois is far from a one dimensional goal scorer as he also has amazing playmaking abilities. He is very aggressive with the puck and often leaves opponents guessing what he’s going to do.
Dubois is equally aggressive away from the puck. He’s a physical player who hounds the puck just like T.J. Oshie of the Washington Capitals. Dubois uses his big frame to poke check pucks away and be physical against the boards. He needs to become more disciplined as he has 112 penalty minutes in 61 games. However, that’s not uncommon to see from young players so that isn’t a red flag.
Regardless of when or where Dubois plays, he always stands out and seems to be the center of attention.
