2016 NHL Mock Draft: Coyotes draft Auston Matthews
The Philadelphia Flyers, much like the Hurricanes, have done a remarkable job of building up their blue line for the future. Philly needs a high-end forward to add to their lineup. They could go a variety of directions at this point, but Kieffer Bellows is the best player available in this NHL mock draft.
Bellows is a natural center but he has the size and skill necessary to make the transition to wing if needed. He might not stick at center if his defense does not improve. A move to wing could be a welcome change for Bellows. He’s already adept at winning puck battles along the boards and he’s a player who loves to drive to the net. With a quick release and constantly improving accuracy, he could be one of the better goal scorers to come out of the 2016 NHL Draft.
He needs to work on his discipline, as is the case with many young players. Considering his aggressive and hard-nosed playing style, he might always be a guy who spends a fair bit of time in the sin bin but he shouldn’t be a liability. Bellows will be attending Boston University in the fall. They have a history of developing well-rounded players and Bellows could be the next one.
