FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-March 19
High Value PF
Serge Ibaka-Oklahoma City Thunder (5,300): After a rest day yesterday against the Sixers, Ibaka is expected to return tonight against the Pacers. Serge had at least 26 fantasy points in two of his last three games before his off-day and is starting to hit more jump shots to diversify the Thunder attack. His rebounds have been down lately, but if his rest helps him to get back on the boards tonight he has some nice upside in this matchup tonight. ∗∗
Tristan Thompson-Cleveland Cavaliers (4,500): Thompson did bounce back from his scoreless game against Dallas as I thought he would (wrote about it yesterday) with a 11-point, 15-rebound double-double for a total of 40.5 fantasy points last night. He will face a different matchup tonight as the Cavs take on the Heat who have Hassan Whiteside in the middle but still are awaiting Chris Bosh’s return. Thompson should be able to run with the small-balling Heat and end up with another solid like from this very affordable price point.∗∗∗
Bobby Portis-Chicago Bulls (4,400): Another cheap PF play who has paid off for my FanDuel daily picks over the last few days, Portis had 12 options and 14 rebounds against the Nets on Tuesday finishing with 31.3 fantasy points. He has at least 20 fantasy points in five of his last ten, but he has had to step into a larger role with injuries to Taj Gibson and Pau Gasol. Gibson was limited on Thursday but did start while Gasol has already been ruled out for tonight. With Gasol sidelined and Gibson ailing, Portis will have to play a lot of minutes against the big front line of the Jazz, so expect a solid game from him again tonight. ∗∗∗∗
Marreese Speights-Golden State Warriors (4,000): Speights has had a nice little surge with at least 13 points in four straight games for the Warriors and at least 19 fantasy points in each of those contests. He exploded for 41.8 fantasy points against the Suns last Saturday, and he could end up with a pile of playing time tonight against Aldridge, Duncan, and the Spurs since Andrew Bogut is doubtful for tonight. Of all the cheap PF, “Mo Buckets” has the most upside, but he’s also high risk since you never now when he could completely disappear from the rotation. ∗∗
Channing Frye-Cleveland Cavaliers (3,800): Frye continues to be one of the best ultra-cheap PF plays since joining the Cavs. He has at least 18 fantasy points in five straight games including the game he lit up the Lakers for 21 points and finished with 32.9 fantasy points. He had 20.2 fantasy points last night against the Magic, and he should get good work again tonight against the Heat. ∗∗
Donates Motiejunas-Houston Rockets (3,500): Motiejunas returned to the Rockets after having his trade at the deadline voided and has gotten some solid run in two of their last three games. He played 21 minutes against the Grizzlies and finished with 30.2 fantasy points, and they last night he played 26 minutes against the T-Wolves totaling 34.3 fantasy points on 17 points and nine boards. He didn’t play much in the one game in between those two contests, and there’s no telling how his back will react to a game on back-to-back nights. He’s high-risk but worth watching tonight against Atlanta. ∗
