2. Messi would face easier competition in America.

This one may be obvious but he would indeed find it easier to play the game and score goals here in America. It would be a different style than he is used to, but the defenses in La Liga and MLS are very similar, pretty bad.

Messi has set almost every record he can at Barcelona. And the thing is, they may not ever be met by anyone else. Why not go somewhere else and set even more records? If Messi came here anywhere near his prime he would be scoring goals left and right. The most goals ever scored in MLS is held by Landon Donovan at 144 in 334 games. The most goals scored in a single season in MLS was Roy Lassiter at 27.

To put that in comparison with Messi’s best, in 2012, Messi scored 91 goals in all competitions. In the equal number of games it took Donovan to score 144 goals, Messi scored 300. He holds the record for most club goals scored in a season at 50 and has 20 or more goals in a season 8 times. To say that Messi could shatter every record held offensively in America is an understatement. He would break all the records and probably set some that will stand for decades to come.
