NFL Free Agency: 5 best fits for Colin Kaepernick
By Randy Gurzi
3. Los Angeles Rams
Case Keenum is said to be the guy who will start the season at quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams when the 2016 NFL season kicks off. There’s no way a team can think that’s the best option out there.
Keenum isn’t necessarily a bad player, but he’s one of those guys that’s simply good in small doses. He excels as a backup who is always prepared to go in at a moments notice, but he isn’t a franchise quarterback.
Trying to bring in fans in a new market, even one that hasn’t had football in 20 years like L.A., won’t be easy to do if the fans don’t believe you can win. With Kaepernick, the Rams fans could believe.
This team is similar to the 49ers Super Bowl team. They have a stellar defense that can shut people down and harass opposing quarterbacks all day. They have a beast of a running back in Todd Gurley who can control the games.
What they don’t have is a quarterback that defenses have to game plan against. Say what you like about his career trajectory, but defenses still have to game plan for Kaepernick. He could do very well in L.A. and should be a target of theirs.
