Two of the biggest bands of the 80s are joining forces, with AC/DC reportedly hiring Axl Rose.

One of the biggest stories to come out of the music scene this past month was the abrupt firing of long-time AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson. He had been with the band for almost all of their massive global success over the last 30 years, joining after original lead singer Bon Scott died in 1980.

Johnson was the signature voice of some of AC/DC’s biggest hits, but the band has now found an equally as iconic singer to fill his shoes.

According to Atlanta Radio 100.5, Rose will be joining AC/DC for the remainder of their current tour. It’s a rumor — at best — but it’s still worth noting and makes more than enough sense to happen.

While he’s simply joining the band for rest of this tour — which consists of 10 more dates — this might open the door to Roe joining the band full-time moving forward. Johnson was removed from the band after it was determined that his health wasn’t where it needed to be and the band decided to move on.

There is still a decent chance that Johnson recovers to the point where he can continue recording with the band, but for now it sounds like it’s Rose’s job to fill his shoes. An Axl Rose-led AC/DC album is the stuff of metal head wet dreams, as it’s the coming together of two of the biggest bands of all-time.

Of course, with Rose reportedly joining AC/DC for the rest of their tour, this seems to kill rumors that Guns N’ Roses will be getting back together anytime soon for that long rumored reunion tour that was supposed to be happening this year.
