player. 73.
While Emmanuel Mudiay is the point guard of the future in Denver, Vanderbilt’s Wade Baldwin IV would be an excellent back up option who can also spend some minutes alongside Mudiay at the shooting guard spot.

Baldwin’s NCAA Tournament stay was short-lived as his Commodores were eliminated in the First Four by an experienced Wichita State squad. Nonetheless, Baldwin developed into a primary option for Vanderbilt as a sophomore. His usage rate climbed nearly seven percent as he was tasked not only with being the offense’s primary distributor, but also a scorer. Baldwin is an 80 percent free throw shooter who has knocked down 1.7 three-pointers per 40 minutes during his time in Nashville. Those statistics bode well for a guard who has made 42.2 percent of his three-point attempts in college.

Baldwin’s most attractive feature, though, is his 6-10 wingspan, which should allow him to defend both guard spots despite standing just 6-4. He is capable of using that length to bother ball-handlers and to recover well when beaten off the dribble. Baldwin’s box score defensive numbers weren’t outstanding as a sophomore, but the tools are there for him to become a pesky defender on the perimeter.
