Kevin Durant’s new basketball shoes are just absurd and look like fashionable, bright orange boots

Despite the up-and-down nature of the Oklahoma City Thunder this season, no one can deny how refreshing it’s been to have Kevin Durant back in the NBA and back dominating like he once did before his foot injury that robbed him of most of last season. However, even Durant’s return to prominence couldn’t save him from how ridiculous his new basketball shoes are.

On Thursday night, Durant was rocking his new shoe, the KD 8 Elite, that boasts a calf sleeve that provides the same benefits of a shooting sleeve but for a player’s leg—at least in theory. In practice as Durant took them out onto the hardwood on Thursday night, though, the shoes looked more like a pair of neon orange boots that went up to Kevin Durant’s knees (which is higher than your average knee, mind you):

"KD is rocking his KD 8 "Elite" High notice it goes up the thigh as I stated to people. We out here grinding y'all"

In fairness to Durant and the KD 8 Elites, they don’t look half bad with the calf sleeve rolled down:

No matter how much stability that calf sleeve provides, I’m pretty sure it’s not worth it to any basketball player to go with that look on the court. You can drop 40 points with the calf sleeve, but you ultimately lose in style points when you’re basically rocking boots out there.
