Boston Celtics. 3. player. 18. . East. Atlantic

Man, do the Boston Celtics have a ton of draft picks/pick swaps in the 2016 NBA Draft. Boston will receive a Minnesota Timberwolves pick via the Phoenix Suns, the Dallas Maverick’s first-round pick from the hilarious Rajon Rondo/Jae Crowder trade, and to top it all off, have the rights to swap first round picks with Atlantic Division rival Brooklyn to get to the top end of the NBA Draft Lottery.

While most are clamoring over the Celtics’ presumed top four pick in the draft via the Nets’ dysfunctionality, perhaps the pick that Boston gets from Dallas could prove to be even more fruitful that originally imagined.

Not only did Boston get arguably its second best player in Crowder in the trade with the Mavericks for the disgruntled Rondo, but the Celtics could use that pick in the late-teens to draft one of the most well-coached prospects in Valentine out of Michigan State.

Boston head coach Brad Stevens loves to take upperclassmen with his draft picks (Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Zeller, R.J. Hunter, Marcus Smart, etc.). Maybe Valentine is that next upperclassmen to play in the TD Garden for the Celtics?

Valentine already looks great in green and white from his days at Michigan State. If Stevens is looking for a strong rotational wing that can do a bit of everything with that Dallas pick, it would be hard to pass up the 2015-16 Big 10 Player of the Year in Valentine. Even if Boston has too much wing talent, that’s their problem, as many teams just can’t get enough strong wing players.
