4. Los Angeles Lakers

This offseason will be a very strange and important one for the Los Angeles Lakers as they will be entering an era without Kobe Bryant. Bryant has been the face of a franchise for a while, and it will be strange not to see him on the court next season. The Lakers have recently done well in the NBA Draft, as they have selected assets like Julius Randle and D’Angelo Russell, which should be key pieces of the team for the future.

Russell looks to have a very high ceiling as a prospect, as he looks to be the complete package at the point guard position. With guard play being so important in the NBA now, the Lakers may entertain the idea of adding Rondo alongside Russell, especially if they move on from Jordan Clarkson. Russell can shoot the ball very well, as he is shooting over 40% from three-point range since the All-Star break, as he can space the floor next to Rondo.

The Lakers will have salary cap room and in the need of a star player, and Rondo could play in the backcourt with Russell and help mold the young guard. The Lakers will likely be going very hard after Kevin Durant who highlights the free agency class, but the likelihood of that happening is very slim. If the Lakers miss on Durant, adding a player like Rondo could be beneficial for the Lakers’ hopes to reach the playoffs.
