#20 – Philips Arena – Atlanta Hawks

The Name: Here’s a telling example of how little the people of Atlanta care about the name of their own arena:

That is an extra “l” in “Phillips.” If Atlantans care so little, why should you? 3/10

The Aesthetics: Depending on who you ask, the two-tone black and gray on the baseline and the sidelines is either a work of modern art or a war crime. Asking me? It’s not worthy of quoting the Geneva Convention, but it’s not great either. With the Atlanta Thrashers gone, maintenance seems lackadaisical.

The Experience: The Philips Arena provides a serviceable experience to the Atlanta Hawks fan. The primary complaint that seems to be lobbed at the venue is its cleanliness, or lack thereof. Otherwise, there is a wide range of food options in a fairly convenient location.

Overview: The Philips arena shouldn’t get in the way of enjoying a game just as long as you bring hand sanitizer.
