High Salary PF

Paul Millsap-Atlanta Hawks (8,200): Millsap is a great PF play tonight if he can play against the Bulls tonight after leaving Saturday’s game early with a laceration on his head.  It didn’t look that serious and was unlikely to require stitches, so my guess is he’ll play and be matched up against a struggling defensive interior of the Bulls.  Millsap has at least 40 fantasy points in each of his last two games after posting 14 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals against the Bucks for 42.1 fantasy points and following that with 23 points, nine rebounds, five assists, four blocks, four steals, and 57.3 fantasy points against the Pistons on Saturday. Millsap has averaged 15 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in his three games against the Bulls this season so look for another balanced line of production from Millsap as long as he’s cleared for action tonight.

LaMarcus Aldridge-San Antonio Spurs (8,000): Aldridge is expected to return for the Spurs tonight after resting for Saturday’s game against Oklahoma City. He played last Friday against the Grizzlies while some of his teammates rested and went off for 32 points and 12 rebounds on his way to 56.9 fantasy points. He’s in that same matchup tonight, so he could be lined up for another monster game.  He’s not low-risk, though, since you can never be totally sure what San Antonio will do at this point in the season as far as minutes go. There’s definitely high upside in starting LA tonight, but there’s also some serious risk of getting “Popped.”

Dirk Nowitzki-Dallas Mavericks (8,000): Dirk rested on Friday and only played 27 minutes last night against the Kings, but if he’s ready for a full load tonight he’ll be ready for a big game against the Nuggets tonight in Denver. Denver has struggled against opposing PF all season and Dirk lit them up for 30 points to go with six rebounds the last time these two teams met back on the 6th of this month. The veteran is trying to get his Mavericks into the playoffs again this year, and he had been playing extremely well before taking this past weekend to catch his breath.  His limited minutes lately could mean he’s fresh for tonight, or he could still be limited which is the only thing that makes him a high-risk play tonight.

Derrick Favors-Utah Jazz (7,300): Favors has been tearing it up lately and has 32 fantasy points or more in three of his last five games. He had 44 fantasy points against the Rockets last week and 37.2 fantasy points against the Bulls.  He has a tendency to dominate teams that are bad against opposing PF and disappear against teams with stronger interior defense as the Jazz shift their offensive focus outside. Tonight, Favors gets a good matchup against the Lakers, so I expect him to be back to his productive self.

Kristaps Porzingis-New York Knicks (6,700): Porzingis hit the rookie wall and also battled illness last week, but he has caught some kind of second wind and is averaging 20 points, eight boards, and 1.6 blocks over his last five games. He has over 30 fantasy points in four of those five games and has played over 30 minutes in each of those contests as well.  His 41 minutes on Saturday against Cleveland could result in some fatigue tonight against the Pelicans, but it’s a great matchup against a very thin front line for New Orleans who has had to deal with a crazy amount of injuries as the season winds down. ∗∗

Gorgui Dieng-Minnesota Timberwolves (6,500): Like all the T-Wolves, Dieng was bad on Saturday against Utah. The night before he played 40 minutes against the Wizards and totaled 40.3 fantasy points which was his second straight game with over 40 fantasy points. He has at least 36 fantasy points in four of his last six games, and he had a solid all-around line against the Suns for 32.3 fantasy points when the teams played two weeks ago.  Dieng is a really nice play at this price point and gets his production from a variety of categories making him lower-risk than many other plays tonight.
