3. The Dolphins are determined to never have a decent running back again

In South Florida, there was a contingency of Dolphins fans who thought that Lamar Miller was the answer and was going to be the next great running back for the team. The only problem is that, for much of the last four decades, the Dolphins have been allergic to having a good running back.

Since the dynasty teams of the 1970’s that included Larry Czonka, Jim Kiick and Mercury Morris, the cupboard has been pretty empty when it comes to that position. One of the reasons many have felt the Dolphins couldn’t get back to another Super Bowl with legendary quarterback Dan Marino was that they were a one dimensional team, missing that key component.

If Foster, coming off another season ending injury last season that was suffered (ironically) in a game against the Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium, isn’t back to the form he was even two seasons ago, he would join the list of players like Sammie Smith, John Avery and so many others who fit the mold of a running back that was there to fill out a position on the roster, but not actually help the team to victory.
