Shaq Lawson. 19. player. 16.
Rex Ryan likes to invest in his defense. Shaq Lawson is very good at football.

Seems like a match to me?

Admittedly, I am not in love with this pure fit given Lawson’s skill set, but for my money, he should be off the board by now from a talent standpoint, and the Bills do have a need when it comes to rushing the passer. Most of the mock drafts circulating project Buffalo to end up with either a wide receiver (somebody has to help Tyrod Taylor) or an interior defensive lineman (Sheldon Rankins? Robert Nkemdiche?), but Lawson ranks ahead of all of the available options at both positions on my board.

Lawson was insanely productive during his time at Clemson, peaking with his final season in that he produced a stunning 25.5 tackles for loss to lead the entire country. His upside isn’t nearly that great as an NFL player, but Lawson is an underrated run defender, and for all of the hoopla surrounding Buffalo’s defensive front a year ago, it was a highly underachieving unit on the whole.

This team could throw a serious wrench into things with an off-the-wall selection, but Lawson combines positional need and value in a nice way.
. DE/OLB. Clemson
