I legitimately feel bad for Russell Wilson.

At least in a football sense.

Wilson has a few things going for him when it comes to the real world, but football-wise, he is entering the 2016 season without the benefit of even a competent offensive line. The Seahawks were ghastly up front in 2015 and former top-five pick Russell Okung is no longer on the roster. Seattle has more than a few holes to plug in that unit, opening up the possibility of an investment in Alabama center Ryan Kelly or Kansas State guard Cody Whitehair, but I am partial to tackles in the first round and Jason Spriggs is the best remaining guy.

Seattle has a penchant for looking to the future over the present when it comes to the draft, and that also plays into picking Spriggs here. He is an extremely talented and athletic player, but Spriggs is not nearly as NFL-ready as a player like Kelly or Whitehair would be. Still, Spriggs is easily the best remaining offensive tackle prospect on the board in my mind, and he would represent an upgrade over the disastrous current crop of options.

The Seahawks are still a dangerous football team, but things might be more dangerous for Russell Wilson if they don’t fix this offensive line. This pick helps.
. OT. Indiana. Jason Spriggs. 26. player. 36
