High Value SG

Brad Beal-Washington Wizards (5,400): It’s been an up-and-down run for Beal since returning from his pelvis injury.  In his seven games since he has returned he has five with over 25 fantasy points including a monster game against the Timberwolves when he piled up 26 points in 46 minutes and finished with 41.5 fantasy points. Unfortunately, that big performance was sandwiched between two games with less than 20 fantasy points including an 11.5-fantasy-point stinker against the Hawks.  Beal will need to bring his top form to the floor tonight against the Warriors, and he could definitely go big in what should be a high-scoring shootout. Having too much trust or confidence in Beal is still tricky, but the upside is undeniable.∗∗

J.R. Smith-Cleveland Cavaliers (4,400): Smith should get some extra shots tonight against the Rockets with LeBron resting, and it’s a good matchup for J.R. against the not-so-defensively-minded James Harden.  Smith has at least 13 points in three of his last four games and has at least 20 fantasy points in each of those three.  He should be able to get 20-25 fantasy points pretty comfortably with James out tonight and could definitely go off if his shot starts dropping. ∗∗

Hollis Thompson-Philadelphia 76ers (4,300): Thompson had a bad game his last time out when he and the Sixers played the Warriors managing only four points, four rebounds, and four assists in 33 minutes for 18.5 fantasy points. Thompson had scored in double digits in each of his previous seven contests, though, and had a least 21 fantasy points in six straight.  Look for him to bounce back tonight against the Hornets although Robert Covington’s return could take some scoring responsibility away from Thompson.

Courtney Lee-Charlotte Hornets (3,700): Lee doesn’t have the potential to go off like Smith or Beal, but he has been more consistent lately making him worth a look if you go cheap at SG. Lee has at least 22 fantasy points in four of his last five games and has become an important part of the Hornets starting lineup. He has a good matchup in Philadelphia tonight, and is a solid, low-risk play even though he ceiling is limited by his role in the Charlotte attack.
