Minnesota Twins—Miguel Sano
The Minnesota Twins had a resurgence last season that was built on the back of their long-built stock of top level prospects beginning to push their way on the Major League roster. And none made a bigger splash upon landing than Miguel Sano.
Such was the importance of Sano’s bat being present that he was promoted without a true position, so he spent the majority of his time as a designated hitter. However, with the addition of Korean slugger Byung-ho Park in the lineup now, Sano will find himself taking his sizable power talents to a new location this year: right field.
The hope is that he can adapt to the spot for the time being, but if it does not work, manager Paul Moliter will likely just deal with it, because few players in the game have the type of raw power that Sano does. Counting his back-to-back 30 home run campaigns in 2012-13, as well as his 35 total long balls he popped between the majors and minors last year, he has topped 30 home runs in his last three seasons (he missed 2014 with Tommy John surgery).
Sano has proved to be the real deal, and could provide the biggest pop display Minnesota has seen since Harmon Killebrew roamed the area.
