Arizona Coyotes – Shane Doan

Shane Doan is the most likely Arizona Coyotes player to be a future hall of famer. It is by default since the Coyotes have one of the youngest teams in the NHL. Doan is an interesting candidate for the Hall of Fame. He most likely won’t make it, but he’s an option that deserves to be considered.

Working in Doan’s favor will be that he has played in the 22nd most games (1,460 as of March 30) and that he has 394 goals (97th all-time) and 942 points (96th all time). He is the Coyotes (old Winnipeg Jets) career leader in games played, goals, points, even strength goals, power play goals, game winning goals, and he is just five assists away from being the franchise leader in assists. Doan is the Coyotes/Jets most accomplished player of all-time and that counts for something.

However, working against Doan is that he has never finished in the top 10 for a major NHL award. While he won the King Clancy Trophy in 2009-2010, that’s an award given out for off the ice contributions. Doan has never even come close to winning one of the major NHL awards, such as the Hart, Art Ross, Ted Lindsay, Selke, or even the Lady Byng. That’s something that will likely haunt him as he tries to make the Hall of Fame.
