Each NHL team’s most likely future hall of famer
Buffalo Sabres – Dan Bylsma
The Buffalo Sabres have a ton of young players since they are rebuilding. While center Jack Eichel has been quite impressive in his first NHL season, it would be silly to say that he’s a future hall of famer because he’s still developing as a player. Buffalo’s only logical candidate for most likely future hall of famer is their head coach Dan Bylsma.
Bylsma has a very solid resume. He won the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2008-2009 after replacing Michel Therrien during the season. Bylsma holds the Penguins franchise records for most wins by a head coach (252), most points (536), highest point percentage (.668), and most playoff wins (43). Considering that’s a franchise that once had Scotty Bowman as the helm, that’s quite impressive.
His success with the Penguins helped him become the fastest NHL head coach to accomplish several milestones, including 200 career wins and 250 career wins. Even if Bylsma has already seen the best years of his career as a head coach in the NHL, one could use the argument that his six years in Pittsburgh were six of the best years that any head coach in the league has ever had. The Hall of Fame has been stringent on allowing coaches in over the years, but they’ve been far more open to it recently. That could help Bylsma.
