Colorado Avalanche – Jarome Iginla

Colorado Avalanche wing Jarome Iginla was expected to be a hall of famer even before he hit the magic number of 600 career NHL goals. That milestone ensures that he will not have to wait long to be enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame once he hangs up his skates. He has been one of the NHL’s top offensive talent for most of his career.

While Iginla’s status as the top sniper of the 21st century was quickly replaced by Alex Ovechkin, Iginla is second to Ovechkin in goals since Ovechkin entered the league in 2005-2006. Being second to Ovechkin in goals is something that should be worn with pride. He has won the Rocket Richard Trophy as the NHL’s leading goal scorer twice (2002 and 2004). Iginla also has an Art Ross Trophy on his resume (2002) and a Lester B. Pearson Award (2002). He has never won a Hart Trophy, though he finished second to Martin St. Louis in 2004.

As of March 30, Iginla has 608 goals (17th all time) and 1,269 points (36th all time). His adjusted goals total (688) puts him sixth all time while his adjusted points total (1,414) puts him 17th all-time. Iginla’s dominance during an era defined by low scoring ensures him a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
