Round 3: QB Cardale Jones (Ohio State)

The Arizona Cardinals will only go as far as Carson Palmer takes them, but he’s getting older and the team needs to start planning for the future at quarterback. Currently, the team has Drew Stanton at backup and Matt Barkley as the third-string quarterback.

Cardale Jones is one of the most intriguing quarterbacks in the draft because of his career at Ohio State and his immense size and power. He fits the mold of quarterback that head coach Bruce Arians loves and is already being linked to the team.

While the Cardinals could maybe address other needs in this spot, if they really like Jones and are set on taking him in the draft, then they may not wait around for a team that is starving for a future quarterback to jump up ahead of him and take him.

The Cardinals took a similar prospect a few years ago in Logan Thomas, which didn’t end up working out, but they are going to keep bringing in developmental projects until they find the guy that is right for them. Jones could sit and learn under Palmer for a while and with Tom Moore and Arians guiding him, Jones might be able to hit his potential.
