Round 6: WR Cody Core (Ole Miss)

While all eyes have been on Laquon Treadwell for Ole Miss wide receivers, there has been a lot of interest rising in wide receiver Cody Core. Core has the size of a receiver that many general managers desire at six-foot-three and 205 pounds. While he struggles sometimes to catch the ball, he does a great job at getting up and after the football.

The Cardinals are currently stacked at the wide receiver position with Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, John Brown, J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown, but Fitzgerald is getting older, Floyd will want to get paid soon and then it’s an unknown for the team from there.

Bringing in another receiver late in the draft with upside could provide competition in camp for the final receiver spots and also could be someone who the Cardinals could maybe develop into a receiver that could supplant anyone that leaves.

With such a deep roster, it might be tough for a sixth-round pick to make the team, but this seems like the type of pick that the Cardinals would look to make with their final draft pick in 2016. It’s an intriguing pick and would give something to watch for in training camp.
