Ryan Anderson: 5 potential destinations this summer
Indiana Pacers
The Pacers are a team that should feel like they are just a piece or two away from really being in this thing. In Myles Turner they have a 19-year-old who is competing and earning 22 minutes a night.
However, his range is terrible, shooting only 22 percent from beyond the three-point arc. The Pacers also have limited depth and often have put George at the four with an excess of guards to run the ball. George has done fine, but has said he prefers an outside game.
The good thing for the Pacers is they can afford to overpay Anderson with a guy like Turner on his rookie deal, and he can still be a bench player who can teach the young Turner while remaining be a threat to score.
Their only current big men signed long-term beside Turner is LaVoy Allen, and Rakeem Christmas. Neither are shooters, and really neither will be starting. They could easily afford to re-sign a guy like Ian Mahinmi without worrying about Anderson and his money.
Anderson can play beside Mahinmi and Turner, and is really the type of big man they do not have on the roster. The Pacers have not been a team to overspend, but they could see Anderson as a solid piece to the contender puzzle.
