Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome is famous for always drafting the best player available. He will have his options here. With the thought of zero quarterbacks going in the top five being quite plausible, it’s hard to imagine that Joey Bosa being available at the sixth overall pick. The most likely best player available at this point will almost indefinitely be DeForest Buckner. He dominated in Oregon’s 3-4 defense despite being the focal point of the defense and not having too much talent around him.

The Ravens will be tempted here by Russell Stanley and selecting him here wouldn’t be a terrible idea considering Eugene Monroe is the most viable starter at left tackle and he’s not even that viable. However, Ozzie Newsome chooses talent over need and Buckner has superior talent to Stanley.

With a questionable at best secondary (even if Weddle gets back to being one of the most underrated safeties in the NFL), Baltimore needs to upgrade their pass rush. Adding a 3-4 end who got double-digit sacks despite facing double and triple teams would certainly do that. It’s not a sexy pick but Baltimore loves smart picks over sexy picks. If Joey Bosa is available, Ozzie Newsome will be as giddy as a school girl and sprint to the podium to draft him. Buckner is one heck of a consolation prize.
