Buffalo Bills: 2016 7-round NFL mock draft
By John Buhler
With the difficult nature of passing the football at for the Bills, it makes sense for Buffalo to go with yet another wide receiver with their first of two fourth round selections in the 2016 NFL Draft by drafting junior wideout of the California Golden Bears in Kenny Lawler.
Lawler was a favorite target of quarterback Jared Goff while playing for the Golden Bears the last few years in Berkeley. Goff is slated to be one of two franchise quarterbacks to be taking in the 2016 NFL Draft along with North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz. Lawler seems to be the next great Cal wideout to enter the NFL.
At 6’2″, 203 pounds, Lawler has the size to hold his own both in the slot and on the outside as an NFL receiver. He led the Golden Bears in receiving touchdowns all three seasons since redshirting at Cal in 2012.
What scouts love about Lawler is his pass-catching ability and his knack for being able to high-point the ball in possession receiving. That being said, arguably his biggest criticism entering the draft is if he can withstand the physical beatings he may take at wide receiver in the NFL.
If the Bills think that Lawler has the durability to be an NFL pass catcher, then Buffalo could potentially have another interesting weapon for Taylor at his disposal under center.
