There have been plenty of options for the Bears’ first round pick, but Shaq Lawson might be the most realistic, and wise. Lawson has been projected as the Bears’ first pick by ESPN expert Todd McShay as well and he likes the pass-rushing ability the defensive end would bring to Chicago.

Clemson made it all the way to the College Football Playoff in 2015 and a big reason was for the defense. Lawson was an absolute monster on the defensive line for the Tigers who were ranked No. 1 in the country for the better part of the season. Chicago needs a pass-rusher and he would be a perfect fit.

Many are hoping the Bears going either offensive line, cornerback or even defensive tackle with their first pick, but Lawson fits the need just as well as anyone. He has great size and athleticism with a 6-foot-3, 270-pound frame.

The junior end put up some video game-like numbers in 2015, record an FBS-best 24.5 tackles for loss as well as 59 total tackles and 12.5 sacks. These numbers lived up to the immense hype surrounding him before the 2015 season and he set career-highs in every category.

Lawson’s stock has done nothing but skyrocket this year and his 4.70 40-yard dash at the combine is attractive for a guy his size.
