High Salary Defensemen

Dustin Byfuglien – Winnipeg Jets ($6,600): Byfuglien is coming off a three point performance against the Blackhawks. Despite having just five points in his last 10 games, he also has 20 blocked shots and 30 shots on goal so he has proven that he’ll get you fantasy points even if he’s not getting on the scoresheet. Byfuglien has four points against the Wild in four games. He goes against them at home, where he has 29 points in 40 games. The Jets blue liner averages 3.7 fantasy hockey points per game.

Ryan Suter – Minnesota Wild ($6,100): Suter is a great option today going against the Winnipeg Jets. He has five assists over his last six games. Suter plays heavy minutes on both the power play (21 points with the extra man) and shorthanded (one goal and one assist while down a man). He has 12 blocked shots and 19 shots on goal over his last 10 games. Suter has 25 points in 40 road games this season and has an assist with 10 blocked shots and 14 shots on goal in four games against the Jets. The Wild defenseman averages 3.4 fantasy hockey points per game.

Kris Letang – Pittsburgh Penguins ($7,200): Letang is on fire. He has nine points in his last 10 games and is rocking a five game point streak. Letang will hope to advance to six today against the Flyers, who he has a goal against in two games this season. The Penguins are playing at home today, where Letang has 34 points in 34 games. He averages 4.4 fantasy hockey points per game.

High Value Defensemen

Cam Fowler – Anaheim Ducks ($4,700): Fowler has 27 points in 64 games this season. Lately he has been blocking a ton of shots and taking lots of them with 23 blocked shots and 16 shots on goal over his last 10 games. Fowler averages 2.5 fantasy hockey points per game.

Radko Gudas – Philadelphia Flyers ($4,600): While Gudas only has 14 points in 71 games this season, he also has 146 blocked shots and 136 shots on goal. The Flyers blue liner gets you fantasy points despite rarely showing up on the scoresheet. He averages 2.4 fantasy hockey points per game (including 3.6 per game over his last 10 games).
