The Memphis Grizzlies are falling apart at the seams as the 2015-16 NBA season draws to a close. While Memphis is 41-36 and in fifth place in the Western Conference entering play Tuesday night, the Grizzlies have lost six straight games and won’t make any noise in the first round of the NBA Playoffs this spring.

Essentially the Grit N’ Grind Grizzlies are at a crossroad as a franchise. Their once young and exciting corps of defense-first players has aged unmagnificently. Memphians love this incarnation of their basketball team, but the Grizzlies are slowly seeping into the Dark Ages as a sluggish, often-injured roster in the pace and space era of the NBA.

What Memphis has to do either in the 2016 NBA Draft or in this upcoming summer’s free agency period is to find depth and outside shooting. One collegiate player Memphis could consider is the Villanova Tournament hero in Jenkins. He could play either wing spot as a three-and-d guy for head coach Dave Joerger in a light rotational role as a rookie.

Jenkins’ experience from playing for Wright in the ultra-competitive Big East Conference, as well as shining on the college game’s highest stage could be exactly what Memphis wants out of a wing. His college statistics show that Jenkins can both lock down defenders out on the wing, as well as knock down the crucial outside shot. He’d be a terrific buy-low prospect for the Grizzlies to sink their teeth in this offseason.
