After going defense to start their draft, the Browns should go offense with the team’s second-round pick. The Browns still do not know the status of highly talented Josh Gordon, and as a result, need to get a wide receiver on the team if they want to start rebuilding.

Michael Thomas out of Ohio State should be the selection. While Thomas never had a 1,000-yard receiving season at Ohio State, that should not turn the Browns away from drafting the Buckeye. Thomas has everything that a team looks for in a receiver, he stands 6’3” and weighs in at 210 pounds. If you pictured the ideal wide receiver, Thomas would check all the boxes.

Even if the Browns get notified that Josh Gordon is reinstated, selecting Thomas would still be a smart pick. Early in the season, Thomas could split snaps with Brian Hartline, and possibly even eventually securing the second receiver role by midseason.

If the Cleveland Browns want Robert Griffin III to ever have a chance as the team’s long-term answer, getting weapons to throw at is a must.

The last regime that the controlled the Browns devalued the receiver position, this Browns regime has a chance to fix that position for the next decade.
