Lorenzo Cain covers ground to rob Confronto of extra bases (Video)
Lorenzo Cain robbed Michael Confronto of extra bases by covering a ton of ground in a very short period of time.
Kansas City Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain has quickly gained the reputation of being one of the best defensive center fielders in baseball. The biggest reason for that reputation is his ability to seemingly catch anything that is hit to center field and in play. Cain can cover a lot of ground in a very short period of time. Plays like the one he just made against New York Mets designated hitter Michael Confronto have become routine.
Great players like Cain have the ability to make the most difficult plays look routine. He covers so much ground there to rob him of extra bases. His positioning isn’t perfect, but his speed and agility allow him to make up for that. Cain tends to play short in center field because of his confidence in his athleticism. He was an American League MVP finalist last season, finishing third behind Mike Trout and Josh Donaldson. Cain is on the right track to be one again this season or possibly even win the award.
