High Value PG

Jose Juan Barea-Dallas Mavericks (5,900): With Deron Williams still without a timetable to return, it’s the J.J. Barea show in Dallas right now. Barea has stepped up huge for Dallas and has at least 30 fantasy points in five of his last six games after scoring 21 points to go with six assists against his former team in his return to Minnesota on Sunday.  He is a key part of the Mavericks attack with all their injuries and he’s a solid play tonight although he will have to deal with the tenacious defense of Patrick Beverley in a huge game for both the Mavericks and the Rockets tonight.

D’Angelo Russell-Los Angeles Lakers (5,400): Russell played 34 minutes last night against the Clippers and looks like he’ll get a bump in playing time over the last few weeks of the season.  He struggled last night, though, with just a single assist to go with 12 points and three rebounds on his way to 16.1 fantasy points. If the Clippers rest Chiris Paul or play him only limited minutes, Russell should find a little bit better results tonight.  He’s definitely worth a look based on his promise and his potential playing time, but he still seems a bit out of sync with his teammates.

Tim Frazier-New Orleans Pelicans (5,000): Frazier started against the Sixers last night and had 37.7 fantasy points on 12 points, nine assists, three steals, and six boards.  He has at least 33 fantasy points in each of his last three games and will get all the playing time he can handle again in Boston tonight.  Fatigue may be a factor for Frazier coming down the stretch, but he’s making the most of the minutes he’s getting in the injury-depleted Pelicans’ backcourt.∗∗

Shane Larkin-Brooklyn Nets (4,500): Larkin has played well since moving back into the starting lineup and has at least 22 fantasy points in six of his last seven games.  He had nine assists against the Pelicans on Sunday adding six points for 26.3 fantasy points in his 33 minutes.  The Wizards defense isn’t great, so Larkin should find room to attack again tonight as he tries to fill in for Jarrett Jack at the PG spot for Brooklyn.

Marcus Smart-Boston Celtics (4,300): Smart has at least 20 fantasy points in five straight games despite continue to struggle with his shot.  He does contribute great non-scoring stats, though, and should be in for some increased run tonight against the Pelicans’ beatable backcourt.  He has a limited ceiling due to his struggles on the offensive end, but he gets enough playing time and is in a good enough matchup to merit consideration at just 4,300.

Austin Rivers-Los Angeles Clippers (3,900): Rivers will be an extremely-popular pick if and when Chris Paul rests coming down the stretch for the Clippers. When he got the start in place of CP3 last Thursday, Rivers dropped 32 points on the Thunder and added enough peripheral stats to get to 46.3 fantasy points. Rivers followed that up with a strong game coming off the bench with 24.8 fantasy points in just 18 minutes on Sunday against the Wizards.  Last night, Paul played agains the Lakers and Rivers was limited to just 18 minutes off the bench and 12.9 fantasy points. He’s a risky flier if Paul is active again tonight, but he could get more turn if coach Doc Rivers pulls his starters early and lets Rivers and company lead the way with the second unit.
