In a league in which offenses seem to be constantly shifting toward pass-heavy attacks each season, there is no such thing as too much cornerback depth.

In a division that features a pair of former Pro Bowl quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Jay Cutler, as well as a potential rising star in Teddy Bridgewater, this becomes especially true.

The Green Bay Packers could look to target the cornerback position in the first round, especially if Clemson’s Mackensie Alexander somehow falls to them at the 27th overall pick. Such would be a major long-shot, though, leaving the possibility of drafting a corner in the later rounds as a much more likely option.

Notre Dame’s KeiVarae Russell would be an ideal selection, and he could potentially slip to the seventh round due to injury concerns stemming from a fractured fibula during the 2015 season. Unfortunately for the Packers, a player with as much upside as Russell is unlikely to last until the final 10 picks of the draft.

North Carolina State’s Juston Burris, however, could be a pleasant surprise with the 248th overall selection.

Burris does not have blinding speed, and he has shown a tendency to leave himself vulnerable to pass interference penalties. But as a 6-foot, 212-pound cornerback with impressive ball skills and physicality, he has the opportunity to compete for playing time early in his career.
