2. Adam Scott

The smooth swinging Aussie finds himself first in FedEx Cup Tour points at the brink of the year’s first major. Scott has won twice on Tour this year at the Honda Classic and at the WGC Cadillac Championship. Add in a couple of second place finishes at the Northern Trust Open and CIMB Classic and you have a golfer who has been on a tear early in the year.

The short putter seems to not be a problem for Scott who was a long time anchored putter user. Basically, Scott’s stats show that he deserves to be at the top of the FedEx Cup. First in total gained strokes, eagles per round, third in birdie average, second in scoring average, seventh in green in regulation percentage and eleventh in driving distance. Geez. All of those numbers should scare the rest of the field. Scott won’t be missing greens, won’t be out driven by many, and is good in the scoring zone. Can you say, winning?

On top of all of this, Scott is cool under pressure. Remember the putt he made at the Masters in 2013 in the playoff against Angel Cabrera to get his first green jacket? Yeah, that guy is back as a contender heading into Thursday.

With a win under his belt at Augusta, stats to back up his hot start to the season and new-found love for the short putter, Scott will have a great shot to take his second green jacket back to Australia.
