No. 1 – New York Knicks

There have been plenty of teams in this list that have plenty of drama issues surrounding their organization. The Knicks might be the top of that list and are close to his Connecticut home (and his hometown near Philadelphia), so why leave the region if you want a challenge that could make Auriemma’s head explode?!

It might be a pipe dream because Knicks executive Phil Jackson has his heart set on who he wants to be the permanent head coach in New York City (since his last hire of Derek Fisher went so well), but the Zen Master should give a look at the man who has as many titles coaching as Jackson does.

Auriemma’s success in the women’s game gives him instant credibility to a hungry Big Apple team that hasn’t seen their team in the NBA Finals since 1999 (and hasn’t won a title since the early 1970’s). Of any market in the country that would be accepting of any coach as long as they can win, it would be New York City.
